After spending his entire career in private practice at Sutherland Asbill & Brennan, Richard L. Robbins launched his own firm, RobbinsLaw LLC, with three former Sutherland lawyers, on May 1. The firm will handle litigation and regulatory work, including business and real estate litigation as well as environmental, employee covenant and trade secrets work.

Robbins, who co-headed the complex business litigation team at Sutherland, said via e-mail that he’d always wanted his own firm for the “flexibility to do plaintiffs’ cases and to pursue a different business model and fee arrangements. I’m 54 so now’s the time if [I were] ever going to do it.” He spent 27 years at Sutherland.

Alexa R. Ross joined Robbins as a member from her solo practice. Ross practiced business litigation and education law at Sutherland for 14 years before forming her own firm in 2004. She focuses on business litigation and charter school law. Her clients include Edison Schools, Kipp Schools and Atlanta’s Charles R. Drew Charter School in East Lake.  Jason Alloy and Jeremy U. Littlefield joined the firm as counsel from Sutherland, where they were associates.

RobbinsLaw is located on the top floor of the 999 Peachtree Building, where Sutherland’s offices are also located.
