Koty Newman

Koty initially joined the Robbins Firm in January 2020.   Koty is experienced in obtaining favorable outcomes for his clients in court, including at hearings and at trial.  As lead trial counsel, he obtained a full defense verdict for a large automotive retailer.  In a federal jury trial, he was part of a trial team that obtained a $1.5 million verdict for a client deprived of its fee.  Koty is also experienced with alternative dispute resolution such as arbitration and mediation.  Koty joined the Supreme Court of Georgia in early 2023 as a Central Staff Attorney and rejoined the Robbins Firm in 2025 after having gained valuable appellate experience. 

Before entering private practice, Koty served as a law clerk to The Honorable Harold L. Murphy of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.   

Koty attended law school at the University of Georgia School of Law, where he earned his J.D., magna cum laude, in 2016 and served as Notes Editor for the Georgia Law Review.  During law school, the Georgia Law Review published his Note, The Elephant Not in the Room: Apportionment to Nonparties in Georgia, 50 Ga. L. Rev. 669 (2016).  Koty was also elected to the Order of the Coif. 

Koty received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Georgia, graduating magna cum laude in 2013.
