The firm successfully represented a Georgia post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (“VFW”) in a dispute involving bona fide coin operated amusement machines (“COAMs”) the VFW offered in its post for its members’ entertainment. When the VFW expressed its desire to change COAM providers, a company purporting to be the current COAM provider took the VFW to arbitration under the auspices of the Georgia Lottery Corporation’s regulatory jurisdiction in an attempt to enforce its alleged COAM contract against the VFW and stop the VFW from changing providers. Taking note of the evidence we presented that none of the VFW’s members actually signed the document in question, the arbitrator agreed that the current provider could not enforce the alleged contract against the VFW. The arbitrator’s final order therefore denied all claims against our client and allowed it to begin the process of selecting a new COAM provider.
